On 6 September 2025, R1TV welcomed teachers, students and parents to the opening of the new school year. Participants met teachers, spoke to the school leadership and visited the school premises.
Headteacher Gita Vāvere wished students strength, perseverance and energy to complete school and achieve their goals. She also encouraged personal growth, participation in school activities and responsibility for their studies.
The celebration included the announcement of the winner of the summer lottery “What will I do with 2,000 euros?”. Year 11 student Tomass Ozoliņš attended with his mother and said he planned to use the prize for a football training camp in the Czech Republic while continuing his distance studies.
The event ended with a shared sense of optimism for the new school year. The lottery result describes a completed event and is not a current prize offer.
